Jenny Lascalles - Bluebell Woods
April 2024 - Durham

If you could ever suspect someone for secretly being a mermaid, it would be Jenny Lascalles - a beautifully dreamy and ethereal musician from the North East. I have known her for many years and we have worked together a few times - I love collaborating with fellow creatives as they tend to understand my mind and wild ideas, something which isn’t always understood.

My dad lives in Durham, and every year I would go visit in the spring to see the Bluebell woods - which is always enchanting. I had always thought it would be marvellous to do a photoshoot there and when Jenny messaged me saying she wanted something to help promote her tour it was the perfect opportunity. The bluebell woods aren’t very far from my dads house, and bless him he helped us take all the gear to the location - it’s a bit of a mission!

We had also borrowed a few outfits from Friday Vintage, a little vintage shop in Newcastle on the Hippy Green.

I had brought with me some shiny Mylar paper to create a sort of underwater bluebell woods effect? This was achieved by cutting some holes in the mylar sheet and fashioning some string around some trees - woodland set design if you will! It kind of worked I think? Anyway we had a lush time being creative in the woods - living the ethereal witchy woman dream.
